GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Regis University men's basketball team (17-7,12-6 RMAC) faced one of the hottest teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic (RMAC) in the Colorado Mesa Mavericks (20-8,14-5 RMAC). After a long battle, Regis could not overcome the hot-shooting home team.
How it Happened: After RU got the first three points of the game, Colorado Mesa simply could not miss in the first frame - they shot an incredible 74 percent from the field. Despite the hot-shooting Mavs, the teams were fairly neck-and-neck until Mesa extended their lead to 45-35 at the half.
The Rangers improved their shooting to 48 percent (15-31) from the field in the final frame, but couldn't quite catch up to Colorado Mesa who was north of 50 percent. After a few Maverick runs, they ended up winning the contest, 91-79.
