DENVER - The Regis University softball team (5-6, 0-0 RMAC) returned home after a solid showing in the annual Desert Stinger Tournament in Tucson. Today, Regis hosted the St. Edwards Hilltoppers (6-1) in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. The Rangers couldn't quite keep up with the Hilltoppers' offensive prowess as St. Edward's won both ends of the DH.
Game One | How it Happened: Sophomore
Katherine Raper's two RBI dinger in the first inning was the only offense the team could get going in the game.
St. Edward's scored 10-straight unanswered runs through the rest of the game. Freshman pitcher
Kylie Harpman (2-2), Raper nor junior
Abby Covington could slow down the Hilltoppers bats.Â
RU got five hits after Raper's homer, but couldn't score anymore runs. In the end, RU fell 10-2 in the DH opener.Â
 Â
Game Notes: The Rangers scored two runs off six hits and had one error.
Raper's 2-4 performance and two RBI were team-highs.
Freshman
Rachel Williams, freshman
Miia Campos, junior
Shayelyn Allen and senior
Madison Flores were the other Rangers to record a hit in the game.
Raper had a team-high five putouts while Flores tied her career-high in assists with five.
Game Two | How it Happened: It was somewhat of an offensive stalemate through the first five innings. With the score locked at 1-1 in the sixth, the Hilltoppers started to pile it on with five runs on sophomore pitcher
Alexis Kemp and Raper.
Raper had a RBI ground out in the sixth, but that would be it in terms of scoring for both teams. Regis fell 6-2 in the final game of the day.Â
Game Notes: Regis scored two runs off four hits and had two errors.
Williams, graduate student
Allisha Martinez, senior
Shelby Shepherd and freshman
Jordan Simonsgaard all had one hit in the game.

Megan Loveland all had a trio of assists.
Up Next For The Rangers: Regis will host the St. Mary's Rattlers (11-3) tomorrow in another doubleheader. Game times are set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
