Carter posts season-high 16 points, but Rangers unable to keep pace with No. 6/10 Orediggers

DENVER, Colo. — Hosting one of the top teams in the country, the Regis University men's basketball team was unable to keep pace with the high-scoring No. 6/10 ranked Colorado School of Mines Orediggers on Friday, falling by a 93-61 final inside the Regis Fieldhouse.

The Rangers dipped to 6-9 overall and 3-6 inside the RMAC, while the nationally ranked Orediggers improved to 15-1 overall and 9-1 in conference, just behind undefeated Black Hills State (13-0 overall, 7-0 RMAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED: Colorado School of Mines was able to take control of the game early, building a 17-11 lead at the 12-minute media timeout of the first half and pushing its lead to 45-31 at the break.

Regis was able to cut the deficit to 10 points at 48-38 with 16:15 remaining on a layup by sophomore forward Brayden Carter, who led all Rangers with a season-high 16 points off the bench Friday.

With the deficit still at 11 with 13:35 remaining, the Orediggers were able to put the game away with a 17-0 blitz to build their lead to 28 points at 73-45 at the 9:59 mark.

Senior forward Aaron Bokol was the second Ranger to finish in double-figures Friday, finishing just two rebounds shy of a double-double as he posted 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Redshirt junior guard Eddy Egun chipped in six points, while the guard tandem of David Simental and CJ Reed each added five points.
