COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) released the results of the women's lacrosse RMAC Coaches' Preseason Poll on Wednesday, with the three-time defending champions Regis University tabbed at No. 1.

Regis, ranked No. 9 in the country by the IWLCA preseason poll, received five of the six first-place votes and topped the poll with 25 vote points ahead of No. 22 ranked Colorado Mesa with 20 vote points.

The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (18 points) came in at No. 3, while Fort Lewis College and Westminster College each tied for fourth with 11 points.

Regis has dominated the conference in recent years, racking up three straight regular season championships in 2019, 2021 and 2022, as well as four RMAC Tournament titles in the past five full seasons (2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022).

The Rangers welcome back 17 players from last year's squad, including three RMAC Players to Watch in graduate student defenseman Maya Quigley, senior attacker Gabby Rothermund and senior midfielder Bailey Truex.

Quigley has been named an All-RMAC selection in three straight seasons and enters her fourth year as a starter for a Regis defense that allowed just 6.15 goals against in 2022; the top mark in the RMAC and third best mark among all NCAA Division II teams.

Rothermund was one of the Rangers biggest playmakers in 2022 as she led the team with 34 assists, adding 13 goals and 56 draw controls. Her play earned her Second Team All-RMAC honors.

As for Truex, she had a breakout season as a junior as she finished third on the Rangers in scoring with 38 goals; more than double her output as a sophomore (15). She added five assists to finish with 43 total points while ranking second on the team in draw controls (56) and third on the team in caused turnovers (22). Her play earned her Second Team All-Midwest Region and RMAC Honorable Mention.

Regis is set to open its 2023 season on Saturday, February 18th down in Florida when it takes on No. 15 ranked Lynn University.
