INDIANAPOLIS — The Regis University softball team was included in the initial NCAA Division II Softball South Central Regional Rankings, announced Wednesday by the NCAA's headquarters in Indianapolis.

The first regional poll lists the 10 teams that are under consideration, in alphabetical order. It will be followed by a ranking of the top-eight teams in the South Central Region. Teams under-consideration this week are: Regis, Angelo State, Cameron, Colorado Christian, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Christian, St. Edward's, St. Mary's, UT Tyler, and West Texas A&M.

The top eight teams in the South Central Region will take part in the Regional Tournament scheduled for May 11-13. Winners of the two conference tournaments (LSC, RMAC) will receive an automatic bid into the postseason with the last six spots being filled by at-large selections. An official announcement of the 64-team NCAA Division II Championship field will be made following the RMAC Tournament (May 4-6).

Regis (28-18 overall, 25-11 RMAC), currently second in the RMAC standings with two weeks remaining in the regular season, will be back in action this weekend as it hosts Metropolitan State University of Denver for a four-game series. Day One action gets underway at 12/2 p.m. Saturday at the Regis Softball Field in Denver.
