Paniagua and Dalrymple homer, but Rangers drop Game Three to Minot State

DENVER, Colo. — The Regis University baseball team had its first hiccup of its four-game series against Minot State University on Sunday, falling by a 20-5 final in Game Three.

Regis (5-5-1 overall), which had gone four straight games allowing five runs or less, struggled on the mound Sunday as Minot State (1-2 overall) churned out 20 runs on 22 hits en route to the Beavers' first win of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Minot State was able to get the bats going early, plating two runs in the top of the first and four runs in the second inning to grab the momentum.

Regis answered back with a run in the home-half of the first, courtesy of a moonshot solo home run off the bat of junior catcher Adam Paniagua; his team-leading third home run of the spring.

Trailing 8-1 in the fourth inning, the Rangers threatened to get back in the ballgame as they loaded the bases with two outs, and received an RBI walk from senior outfielder Levi Padilla, but were unable to produce the timely hit.

Minot State capitalized on the momentum shift as they blew the game open with a six-run fifth inning and five more runs in the sixth en route to the 20-5 final.

Regis would tack on its final three runs of the ballgame in the ninth when senior utility man Cam Dalrymple launched a 3-run missile to right field for his first home run of 2024 and his fourth career long ball as a Ranger.

Senior designated hitter Dakari Armendariz (1-for-2) and junior utility man Matt Graff (2-for-2) each came off the bench Sunday and delivered their first hits of the season, as well.

Out of the bullpen, senior right-handers Dylan De Leon and Cam Bushnell each delivered scoreless relief appearances in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively.

UP NEXT
The Rangers will look to bounce back and secure the series victory when the two team square off again on Monday. Due to improved weather in the afternoon in Denver, the teams mutually agreed to move first pitch from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday.
