Regis women's lacrosse collects three individual awards, places 10 players on RMAC All-Conference teams

| By:
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the 2024 women's lacrosse All-Conference teams and individual award winners on Wednesday, with the No. 6 ranked Regis women's lacrosse team having a total of 10 players earning recognition.

Additionally, the Rangers won three individual awards as graduate student midfielder Bailey Truex earned RMAC Midfielder of the Year, fellow senior Elizabeth Myotte took home RMAC Goalie of the Year, and head coach Sarah Kellner was named RMAC Co-Coach of the Year.

For Kellner, who celebrated her 200th career win earlier this spring, the RMAC Coach of the Year award is the sixth of her career. She is a staggering 206-73 (.738) during her 18 years with the Rangers.

Truex and Myotte lead a group of seven Regis players to earn First Team All-Conference honors as they are joined by redshirt senior attacker Gabby Rothermund, sophomore midfielder Maggie Schipfer, junior midfielder Megan Bunker, junior defensive midfielder Madeline Schallmoser and junior defenseman Terah Skillings.

Regis sophomore midfielder Shea Murphy and senior midfielder Lily Ferguson would each garner Second Team All-Conference honors, while graduate student defenseman Sarah Hanson earned RMAC Honorable Mention to complete the 10 Regis selections.

Wednesday's announcement marks back-to-back seasons for the Rangers where they have taken home RMAC Midfielder of the Year. After Ferguson won it in 2023, Truex claims the honor with 50 goals and 56 total points across 17 games in the regular season. The two-time First Team All-Conference winner has also added 21 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and 45 draw controls.

For Myotte, she becomes the first Regis goalie to win RMAC Goalie of the Year since Elle Crawford in 2021. The senior had a breakout season, starting 13 of 16 games and posting a 14-1 record with a .487 save percentage and a RMAC-leading 6.46 goals against average; the second-best mark among all Division II goalkeepers.

Rothermund, the program's all-time assists leader, made her debut on the First Team All-Conference list after tying her career-high with 17 goals during the regular season and setting new highs in single-season assists (35) and total points (52).

Schipfer earns her spot after leading the high-powered Regis offense in scoring during the regular season with 53 goals and 68 total points, while junior newcomer Megan Bunker makes her debut on the RMAC All-Conference teams with 17 goals and a Regis single-season record of 130 draw controls. Her 8.18 draw controls per game average rank fifth overall among all Division II players.

Schallmoser and Skillings, who earned RMAC Honorable Mention and Second Team All-Conference, respectively, in 2023 also earned their first appearance on the First Team All-Conference lists after helping spearhead a Regis defense that has caused the most turnovers (212) in the RMAC and held opponents to a 75.4% clear percentage. Schallmoser has accounted for 35 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers, while Skillings leads all Rangers with 35 caused turnovers.

Murphy, a RMAC Honorable Mention selection in 2023, backed up her strong freshman season with new career highs in goals (38) and total points (59) while Ferguson continued to put together another well-rounded season with 33 goals, 44 points, 32 ground balls, 25 caused turnovers and 75 draw controls.

As for Hanson, the graduate student put together her best season in a Regis uniform as she set career-highs in ground balls (27) and caused turnovers (20) across the stout Rangers' back line.

The highly decorated Rangers will look to add to their accolades when they host the RMAC Tournament this Friday and Sunday in Denver. Top-seeded Regis is set to face No. 4 seed Westminster University at 4 p.m. on Friday for the right to move on to Sunday's 2 p.m. championship game.
