DENVER, Colo. The Regis Women's Basketball team fell in their second game of the season on Saturday night to Angelo State, 51-61. The Rangers are now 0-2 while the Rambells start 1-1 on the season.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Kaylin Venick would start the scoring for the Rangers off a defensive rebound from Jessica Bollwahn. After that, neither team would score for three minutes until Rambells would get one to fall in the paint. Caitlin Turnbow would answer with a layup, followed by a steal from Emily Allison, which turned into another bucket for Venick. Rangers down 10-11. Kate Gallery would add a jumper to end the quarter, Rambells lead 14-12.Â
Turnbow would knock down a free throw and a jumper to start the second. However, Angelo State would go on a nine-point run, taking a 24-17 lead. Gallery would end the momentum with a triple and a layup after a steal from Turnbow to put the Rangers within four. Turnbow would add another free throw, and Gallery hit one from beyond the arc, Rangers down 26-30 at half.
The Rambells would come out with an early eight-point run, staying ahead 36-28. Turnbow answered with back-to-back jumpers assisted by Crossland. Both teams would hit a scoring drought until Allison got hot from downtown, RU behind 35-39. Josephine Lynch added the last basket of the quarter, Angelo State 42-40.Â
To start the fourth, Allison would add a layup followed by Gallery, Rambells still ahead 49-45. Angelo State would maintain their lead, scoring the next seven points. Venick would end their run with a triple, but it wasn't enough as the Rangers would fall 51-61.Â
GAME NOTESÂ
Gallery led RU with 20 points, Turnbow followed with 15.Â
Bollwahn grabbed 13 rebounds.Â
Venick dished 5 assists.Â
The Rangers shot 32.3% from the field and 26.3% from the three. The Rambells shot 36.5% from the field and 29.2% from the three.
