Coyotes Come Alive Late to Defeat Rangers

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Regis University Baseball team fell on the road to California State University San Bernardino, 8-2, on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers fall to drop to 4-4 on the year, while the Coyotes improve to 5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rangers scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly from Adam Paniagua that brought home Clay Conn, but the Yotes responded with an RBI double in the bottom of the frame. Peter Goldy singled in the second, but was left on base.

Conn was walked to start the third, followed by a CJ Difiglia single and a Zach Barnao RBI single to score Conn. San Bernardino earned three baserunners in the bottom, but they were all stranded on base. Neither team scored in the fourth but an RBI double brought in two Coyotes, giving them the 3-2 advantage.

CSUSB continued to add to the lead with three runs on three hits and an error in the sixth, and two more runs on three hits in the seventh. Difiglia and Paniagua both reached base in the eighth, but couldn't score, and the Rangers recorded three straight outs in the ninth to end the game, 8-2.
