Rangers Collect Two Dominant Wins Over UCCS

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team earned two wins RMAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. The Rangers took the early game, 12-3, and the late game, 11-2, improving to 16-9 (6-1 RMAC) while the Mountain Lions fall to 14-8 (4-3 RMAC).

GAME ONE

Regis took the first lead of the game, as Jack Moulin's double in the top of the second brought in Peter Goldy and Zach Barnao. CJ Difiglia then bought in Moulin for the 3-0 lead. After the Mountain Lions stranded two runners on in the top of the third, Regis added seven more runs, including an RBI single from Goldy, an RBI double from Moulin, an RBI single from Clayton Conn, and a two RBI triple from Adam Paniagua.

The Mountain Lions would score their first run in the top of the fourth on an unearned sacrifice fly, and added a second run in the fifth with a solo home run. However, Moulin got those two runs back with a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth, scoring Mattias Sessing. UCCS scored one run in the seventh, but would get no closer as Regis won, 12-3.

GAME NOTES

·        Moulin went 3-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and batting in five

·        Three other Rangers had multiple hits

·        Mikey Brinton was 4-4 with two RBIs

·        Ayden Harrison stole one base

·        Mason Ashcraft (2-0) earned the win with three Ks in 4.2 IP

·        Ryder Mancuso (2-1) recorded the loss

GAME TWO

UCCS would take a 1-0 lead in the second game, scoring on an RBI single in the top of the second. They added an RBI double in the top of the second, but Regis evened the score behind a two-RBI single by Goldy.

Back to back plays in the bottom of the fourth, including a two-RBI double from Maxim Fullerton, pushed the Rangers' lead to 6-2. The sixth inning saw even more, as Ethan Wood doubled to right center, bringing home Difiglia and Fullerton, and Paniagua's home run put the nail in the coffin, scoring Conn and Harrison for the 11-2 win.

GAME NOTES

·        Paniagua was 3-3, scoring three runs, and batting in three

·        Moulin, Fullerton, and Goldy all had two RBIs

·        Five different Mountain Lions had a hit

·        Ryan Garcia (4-1) earned the complete game in, while Colton Trudeau (1-1) recorded the loss
