DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team defeated Metropolitan State University of Denver in a double header match up, Sunday afternoon, 15-1 and 10-4. The Rangers move to 12-9 (2-1 RMAC), while the Roadrunners improve to 8-10 (1-2 RMAC).
GAME ONE
Regis would start the scoring in the top of the second with a triple from
Mattias Sessing scoring two runs, Mason Garf would follow with an RBI scoring Sessing.
Ayden Harrison and
Clayton Conn would get on base followed by a double from Rede scoring Harrison and Conn, Rangers up 5-0. MSU would add a run to close the second inning.
In the top of the third RU would add two more runs, and three hits going ahead 7-1 on the Road Runners. Conn would start the fifth with a single and advancing on a wild pitch. Rede would double scoring Conn and Paniagaua followed with a double scoring Rede. Rangers up 9-1.
In the top of the seventh RU was hot with the at bats, recording six runs and six hits. Graf would start with a single, followed by an RBI from Conn scoring Graf. Paniagua would send one over the fence, scoring two more Rangers.
Maxim Fullerton would add another single and Goldy would bring him home with a double. Goldy would make it home with a single from
Nicholai Arnold. RU finishes the inning ahead 15-1. Rangers would win 15-1.
GAME NOTES
Rangers totaled 17 hits from 10 different Rangers.
Garrett Rede and
Adam Paniagua each had four RBI's.
Adam Paniagua recorded one home run, leading DII.
Masaon Ashcraft would get the win for RU while Roskopf recorded the loss.
GAME TWO
The Rangers would take the first lead of the game with
Clayton Conn scoring on an error from the Road Runners. MSU would follow adding a run of their own, 1-1. The Road Runners would add another run in the second inning. Regis answered with
Adam Paniagua homering it to left field scoring two runs.
Peter Goldy would follow with a single and
CJ Difiglia would bring him home with a double. Rangers ahead 4-2.
To start the fifth
Maxim Fullerton would single, then Goldy would add a double scoring Fullerton. Bats would continue to be hot for RU scoring five more runs, 10-2 headed into the bottom of the fifth. MSU added a home run but that would be the only score from them.
In the bottom of the seventh the Road Runners would add another run, but it wasn't enough, and RU would get the sweep with a 10-4 win in the second game.
GAME NOTES
RU totaled 12 hits while MSU only had eight.
Paniagua went two for three, including three RBI's and a home run.
Ryan Garcia recorded the win for RU with four strike outs. While Helton was given the loss for MSU.
Two Road Runners went two for four behind the plate.
