GOLDEN, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team defeated RMAC opponent Colorado School of Mines, 9-6, in 10 innings on Friday night. The Rangers improve to 24-11 (14-3 RMAC), while the Orediggers fall to 11-27 (6-15 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers started the game strong, with a solo home run from Adam Paniagua in the top of the first inning. Ethan Wood added a double, and Jack Moulin was walked, but both were left on base. The Orediggers evened the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI triple.
CJ Difiglia started the third inning with a double, then stole third, setting up an RBI grounder from Peter Goldy to take back the lead. Difiglia then homered in the top of the fifth inning, also scoring Wood, to go up 4-1, but Mines answered in the bottom of the frame with a two-RBI single, and one RBI single to tie the match again.
CSM then took the lead with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. In the eighth inning, a Wood single and Oredigger error brought home Clayton Conn and Ayden Harrison to trade leads again. And yet again, the Orediggers tied the game with a sac fly.
The Rangers did not manage a baserunner in the ninth, but were able to turn a double play to send the game into extra innings. With two outs in the tenth inning, Paniagua reached on an error, and Wood was intentionally walked. Moulin then homered to center field, scoring three runs and securing the 9-6 win.
