DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team split a pair of games with New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday afternoon, losing 7-10 and winning 6-3. The Rangers move to 29-14 (19-6 RMAC) on the year, while the Cowboys now sit at 11-32 (3-24 RMAC).
GAME ONE
Highlands jumped out to a strong lead in the first inning, scoring five runs on five hits, including a three-run homer. NMHU had two more hit in the second, but Regis scored the next run of the game, a Maxim Fullerton RBI doubled that brought home Peter Goldy in the third.
In the fourth, Goldy drove in two another run with a single, and Fullerton brought in two more with a single to left center to bring the deficit down to just 4-5. The Cowboys had an answer this time, as they were able to capitalize on walks to score four runs on just one hit. They pushed their advantage to 10-4 in the sixth frame.
Fullerton doubled for the Rangers to lead off the seventh inning, he was brought home on a Cowboy error, and Garrett Rede batted in two more runs with a double. However, the comeback attempt fell short there, 7-10
GAME NOTES
· Fullerton led the Ranger's offense, going 3-3 with three RBIs
· Goldy posted two hits, scored two runs, and batted in one
· Rede had two RBIs on one hit
· Eight Cowboys had at least one hit
· Mason Ashcraft (3-1) recorded the loss with six strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched. Wyatt Zsidisin struck out three in 1.2 IP. Ramon Brion (3-4) earned the in with five Ks. Brandon Casi posted his first save
GAME TWO
Regis had two hits in the first inning, but Highlands would still be the first to score, leading off the second with a solo homer. RU recouped that run in the bottom of the inning as Rede took an RBI walk. Adam Paniagua gave the Rangers their first lead of the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the third.
In the fourth inning, Paniagua put the Rangers up, 5-1, scoring Rede and Westin Miller with a home run that set a new Regis single season home run record with 25.
Rede gave RU an insurance run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly that brought in Clayton Conn. The Cowboys tried to mount a comeback with a two-RBI home run in the top of the seventh, but would get no closer as Regis won, 6-3.
GAME NOTES
· Paniagua went 3-3 with four RBIs, scoring two runs. He now holds the single season home runs record with 25 and counting, and has 46 career HRs, five away from the career record
· Rede added two more RBIs on one hit
· Five other Rangers had one hit
· Five Cowboys had one hit
· Ryan Garcia (7-1) put together the complete game win, striking out five batters. Jimi Welsher (1-4) posted the complete game loss

The Rangers and Cowboys will conclude their series on Sunday, April 27, with first pitch set for noon. The Rangers will celebrate Senior Day following the game.
