INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Regis University Women's Lacrosse team, seeded No. 3 in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse National Tournament Midwest Region, saw their 2025 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon, losing 15-10 to No. 2 University od Indianapolis. The Rangers fall to 14-5 on the year, while the Greyhounds improve to 14-6.
UIndy will play in the Regional Final on Saturday, May 17.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy would take the first two shots of the game, scoring on the second attempt. Regis would then have two shots hit the frame, and one saved before Justine Spahr got the Rangers on the board, assisted by Becky Goetsch. Neither team would score over the next five minutes of game time, but Brigit Goetsch would save two shots on goal. Be. Goetsch earned her second first-quarter assist, setting up Megan Bunker's goal. However, the Greyhounds scored two late goals to take the 3-2 lead after one.
UI kept the momentum going into the second, scoring an early woman-up goal. Shea Murphy and Terah Skillings both took shots, while Bunker and Be. Goetsch collected ground balls, leading to a Lauren Sheets goal, assisted by Lexie Springman. Bunker would control the ensuing draw, quickly leading to another Be. Goetsch-Spahr connection, tying the game at 4-4. The teams traded saves, before the Greyhounds took control, scoring three unanswered goal to close out the half.
UIndy continued the run into the third, scoring twice more before Bunker found the net on a free position shot. Murphy's shot on goal would be saved, and Madeline Schallmoser forced a turnover, and the squads traded goal to end the period. UIndy had a pair of unassisted scores, while Murphy scored for RU, assisted by Sheets.
While Bunker would control the opening draw in the fourth, the Greyhounds were the first to score, pushing their lead to 12-6. Alyse Valdez picked up a ground ball, leading to a Bunker-assisted goal for Be. Goetsch, and less than a minute later, Bunker found Murphy for another goal. The Greyhounds halted the Rangers run, scoring two more goals unanswered, despite a save from Br. Goetsch. Murphy picked up the rebounds from Aubrey Benton's shot, and scored on her attempt, but UI quickly had an answer. Bunker had a final woman-up goal to end the game, but Regis would fall, 15-10.
GAME NOTES
· Bunker posted a team-high five points on three goals and two assists
