COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the winners of the 2024-25 Brechler Awards this week, recognizing the conference's best team grade-point averages for each of its 22 NCAA-sponsored sports throughout the academic year.
Regis University had four teams across the institution's 13 sponsored sports receive the awards, as the Baseball, Men's Basketball, Men's Soccer, and Women's Lacrosse programs all earned Brechler Award honors.
Regis and Colorado Mesa University tie for the lead, with four team winners apiece.
Baseball and Women's Lacrosse both repeat as winners from 2023-24.
Since the award's inception in 20212-13, Regis Baseball and Men's Soccer have won seven times, Women's Lacrosse four times, and Men's Basketball twice.
This year, RU's Women's Lacrosse squad won a share of their sixth straight RMAC regular season title and RMAC Tournament crown, as well as their eighth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, all while holding a 3.790 team GPA.
The Rangers Men's Soccer team earned the No. 2 seed in the RMAC tournament this year after not losing a conference game (6-0-4 RMAC record). Regis placed three players on the All-RMAC First Team, and two on the All-Region teams. The Rangers complied a 3.648 GPA in 2024-25.
RU's Men's Basketball team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament this season, their first trip since 2017-18. They finished second in the regular season RMAC standings, and were the conference tournament runner-up. Their 3.495 GPA earned them the Brechler award for the first time since 2014-15.
The Regis Baseball team put together an impressive season both on the field and in the classroom this year. The Shovel Boys boast a 3.432 GPA, and set numerous single-season team records, including the most wins in a season at 35.
Regis has taken home the second-most Brechler Awards of any institution in the RMAC with 44, behind just Westminster University (Utah) (57).
The Brechler Awards are named in honor of Paul W. Brechler, a former RMAC commissioner (1976-90), and his wife, Wanda Brechler, who were the first inductees into the RMAC Hall of Fame. Each team's GPA is calculated by dividing the total quality points by the total number of credits for each semester. Team GPAs were submitted to the RMAC office by each institution's compliance administrator.
