LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Regis University Men's Soccer team used two late goals for a 2-1 comeback win over Biola University (Calif.) on Thursday night. The Rangers improve to 2-0-0, while the Eagles fall to 1-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit would start the game with a flurry of shots in the first 10 minutes, but Biola would score on their shot, an unassisted goal by Luca Couchman at 15:34. After that, keeper Zach Jennings would dial in with a pair of saves. Carlson-Du Toit finally gave the Rangers their first shot on goal with six minutes left in the half, but Regis would trail going into the break.
Each of the squads would receive a yellow card early in the second half, and after Tom Devonport's shot was blocked, Jennings earned another save. Back-to-back corner kicks for BU proved fruitless, and with less than three minutes left, Blaise Richard looked the center the ball from the corner, but instead was rewarded with an Eagles own goal. Regis kept the pressure on, and Ben Wittenbernds fired a shot off a rebound for the game-winner with just :15 seconds left on the clock.
