DENVER, Colo. – Regis University Athletics saw themselves have a successful athletic showing this past week as they featured three wins and one tie.

TEAM UPDATES
VOLLEYBALL
The Rangers played to their second win of the season this past week as they went 1-1 in a pair of conference games against New Mexico Highlands and Adams State.
Regis beat N.M. Highlands 3-2 in a five-set victory on Friday night to begin their weekend with them then dropping a 3-0 decision to Adams State on Saturday.
Friday's game snapped a 14-game losing streak for the Rangers with both wins this season going all five sets.
Week/Weekend Notes:
· Alayna Pruitt led all Rangers on the weekend with a staggering 26 kills, including 15 in the win over the Cowgirls
· Sabrina Landman reached 20 kills on the weekend as well
· Three others also finished with double digit kills
· Nicole Shaver and Madelyn Lynett were nearly identical in the assists collum with 40 and 38 respectively
· Kendal Allaire recorded nine total blocks with two of them being solo
· Cady Knight eclipsed 50 digs with 53 total
· Three of the eight total sets played on the weekend went past the regulation 25 points with the highest being a 31-29 set win for Adams State
Coming up this week the Rangers will now take to the road for a rematch with UCCS on Friday in Colorado Springs before then returning to Denver on Saturday to face off with MSU Denver at their campus.
Both teams are tied for first place in the conference standings with each of them having an identical record of 10-6 (5-1 RMAC). UCCS defeated Regis 3-0 in their last matchup which took place on Sept. 25.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
The Rangers stayed red hot in conference play as they won yet another two games this past weekend when they shut out two of the conference's top teams in Westminster University and UCCS.
Regis won by a score of 3-0 against Westminster on Friday before then taking down UCCS 2-0 on Sunday.
Westminster came into the weekend with the conference's best defense, having given up only goal on the season while UCCS was tied for the best offense with Regis having scored 30 goals.
Regis is now on a nine-game winning streak with this being the first time the team has achieved this feat since 2008.
The Rangers are also currently 6-0 in RMAC play to lead the conference while being the only team with double digit wins.
In the most recent IWSOC rankings, Regis was receiving votes with the new polls to be released tomorrow afternoon.
Weekend Notes:
· Brooke Castillo and Fernanda Rodriguez both scored two goals on the weekend with Castillo having each of the game-winners
· Paula Igula added the team's other score and one assist
· Brooklyn Bailey and Madisyn Meyers both had assists as well for their first collegiate points
· Maggie Payne recorded 14 saves across the two games with her now having three solo shutouts on the season and only conceding one goal so far in conference play
Regis will play to a split schedule this week once again as they take on MSU Denver on Friday night at Assembly Athletic Complex before then hosting Colorado Christian University on Sunday at the Regis Turf Fields at 2:30 PM.
Both teams have identical records of 2-6-4 (1-4-1 RMAC).
MEN'S SOCCER
The Regis men's soccer team played yet another pair of ranked opponents this past weekend as they took a trip down I-25 for matches against both No. 8 CSU Pueblo and No. 14 UCCS.
The Rangers played to a 1-1 draw with No. 8 CSUP to begin their weekend on Friday before falling just short in a rematch with No. 14 UCCS on Sunday as they lost 1-0.
RU scored the game-tying goal against CSUP in the final 15 minutes to secure the draw with UCCS narrowly winning the weekend finale on an 80th minute goal.
Regis has now faced seven opponents ranked in the nation's top 25 this season with four of their matches being against top 10 teams.
The Rangers are currently ranked No. 24 in the nation as well and will wait to see where they stand when the new rankings drop tomorrow.
Week/Wekend Notes:
· Regis outshot opponents 28-11 on the weekend
· Jan Grillitsch had the team's lone goal in the tie with that score being his first of the season
· Abram Wilson recorded an assist on the score
· Zach Jennings totaled two saves in the net
The Rangers will now return home to host the opponents of Colorado Christian and MSU Denver this week with games set for a Thursday, Sunday split. Thursday will be at 6 PM with Sunday set for 12 PM.
Colorado Christian is 3-4-4 (2-1 RMAC) while MSUD is 5-2-3 (2-1 RMAC).
M/W CROSS COUNTRY
The Ranger men's and women's cross country teams return to action this coming weekend as they travel to Hays, Kansas to take part in the Fort Hays State University Tiger Open.
The races will take place on Oct. 10 with each scheduled to begin the morning.
In their most recent race on Sept. 19, the Rangers took part in the Roadrunners Invite here in Denver with both teams taking eighth place.
Allie Braney led the women's side with a 13th place finish in the 6K while Quinn McKnight led the men's side with a 44th place finish in the 8K.
This is the second year in a row the Rangers will take part in the FHSU Tiger Open with the men's team taking 11th last year and the women's finishing in 8th.
