LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team opened their series with Colorado Christian University on Thursday afternoon, securing a 12-6 win. The Rangers improve to 12-18-1 (3-9-1 RMAC), while the Cougars fall to 6-26 (2-15 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Linus Fleek opened the game with a single, and scored on Jack Moulin's double. Ethan Wood batted in Moulin with a single, and he would come home on Mason Grube's RBI single. George Smith reached on an error to start the second, advanced on Fleek's single, and scored again off of a sacrifice fly by Wood. CCU would score their first run in the third on a walk and RBI double.
In the top of the fourth, Fleek recorded his third hit of the game, a double to left, and advanced on Moulin's single. Wood singled to score Fleek again, while Moulin came home on an error. Parker Burt pushed the lead to 7-1, as his sac fly brought in Wood. However, CCU got one run back in the bottom, with one hit and a pair of RU errors. Grube led off the fifth with a single, followed by a two-run homer by Nicholai Arnold.
Regis kept the momentum into the sixth with a Burt single to lead off, and an Arnold double to bring him home. Following a pair of scoreless innings where Rocco Harmon struck out two batters, the Rangers added two insurance runs in the ninth. Three straight singles brought home Wood, while Aaron Kidd batted in Ayden Harrison on his pinch-hit at-bat. The Cougars attempted a rally in the ninth, scoring four runs on two hits, but it fell short, 12-6.
GAME NOTES
