DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Soccer team kicks off their 2026 season on Saturday, August 29th at #3 Fort Hays State University (Kan.).
2025 RECAP
The Rangers went 9-6-4 in 2025, including 6-2-2 in RMAC play. RU earned the No. 3 seed in the RMAC Tournament and made to the RMAC Semifinals. Regis went 1-0-2 against Top-25 Ranked teams and was receiving votes in the National Top 25 Coaches Poll at various times in the season.
Senior defender Julian Fally was named Second-Team All-District by D2CCA, and led six Rangers on the All-RMAC teams. He was joined by Second-Team All-Conference selections Elias Taubo, Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar, and Sahar Golov, and honorable mentions Jason Robles and Zach Jennings.
Jan Grillitsch made the All-RMAC Academic Team, while 13 Rangers collected RMAC Honor Roll accolades. The team received the RMAC's Brechler Award for the top team GPA in the sport.
2026 SCHEDULE
The Rangers open the season at Fort Hays State, the #3 ranked team in the preseason United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. Other preseason ranked teams on RU's schedule include (RV) Cal State – San Bernardino on Sept. 6, #24 Seattle Pacific (Wash.) on Sept. 10, and #18 UCCS Sept. 20 and Oct. 4.
The in-conference slate begins on Sept. 27 against South Dakota Mines, and each team plays each other once. The top six teams make the RMAC tournament, which runs from Nov. 1-8.
THIS YEAR'S TEAM
Returners (19)
Sophomore goalkeeper Zach Jennings started all 19 matches in his first season, being named an All-RMAC Honorable Mention. He posted a 9-6-4 record, a 1.24 goals against average, and recorded 50 saves.
Senior midfielders Sahar Golov and Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar were both All-RMAC Second-Team selections in 2025. Betancourt-Tovar totaled 11 points from four goals and three assists, while Golov added one of each.
The other returners include Tom Devonport, Alex Guarrero, Abram Wilson, Ben Christian Wittenbernds, Jan Grillitsch, Johan Murillo, Valdet Dalipi, Cole Martin, Blaise Richard, Derek Shoring, Jack Shimkus, Ethan Haigler, Matys Price, Jackson Hammons, Marco Lara, and Ben Tamas.
Newcomers (Four Freshmen, Nine transfers)
Liam Corr returns to the Rangers after playing at NCAA DI Mercer University (Ga.) last season. He was an All-RMAC First-Team honoree for RU in 2024, and started 10 matches for the Bears last year.
The other transfers include Nathan Blayney (Feather River CC), Trevor Jones (Golden West College), Joakim Gunnar (Wingate), Ben Points (Johnson County CC), Jalen Rueter (St. Cloud State), Yoav Paltin (UT Rio Grande Valley), Michael Ajagbe (Loyola University-Maryland) and Finley Axcell (West Texas A&M).
The new freshmen are Baron Sandberg, Kaden Riedel, Adam Thresher, and Francisco Ruiz.
COACHING STAFF
Taylor Diem starts his seventh overall season as the Head Coach of the Rangers, and holds a 50-42-20 record (.536). He has coached six All-Region players, one RMAC Player of the Year, one RMAC Freshman of the Year, and nine First-Team All-Conference players.
Joining him on the sideline are Steven Cahill (4th season), Ethan Byrnes (1st season), and Greg Squire (1st season).
IN THE POLLS
The Rangers were picked second in the RMAC in the Preseason Coaches Poll, with Golov and Betancourt-Tovar being named Preseason All-RMAC.
