DENVER, Colo. – Regis University Athletics continued fall action this past week with three different teams competing, including grant feats and large upsets.

TEAM UPDATES
VOLLEYBALL
The Rangers began RMAC play this past weekend as they hosted their first two games of the conference schedule against opponents CSU Pueblo and Colorado Christian.
Regis was downed 3-0 and 3-1 in their two matches with their lone set win being a 28-26 decision against CCU in the first set.
Week/Weekend Notes:
· Kailyn Polzin led the team with 23 kills on the weekend while recording a team-high 14 against CCU
· Jacie Kaniho added 19 kills with 12 of them coming against CSU Pueblo
· Both Alayna Pruitt and Morgan Munro added double digit kills
· Cady Knight led the team with 45 digs
· Maddie Lynett and Nicole Shaver both totaled over 30 assists
Coming up this week the Rangers will now take to the road for more conference action when they face off with Western Colorado on Friday night at 6 PM in Gunnison, Colorado before then closing out the weekend in Durango, Colorado on Saturday against Fort Lewis College at 3 PM.
Both schools own a 5-5 overall record with Western Colorado being 1-1 in RMAC play and Fort Lewis being 0-2.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Closing out their final two games of nonconference action, the Rangers earned a pair of dominant victories this past week winning 3-0 against St. Martin's University and 4-0 against University of Nebraska – Kearney.
The Rangers now own a three-game winning streak with them sitting 4-2 overall.
In addition, they have now recorded three shutouts on the season.
Weekend Notes:
· Fernanda Rodriguez put up an unreal scoring performance with her totaling five goals over the two games including a hat trick against St. Martin's and a brace against Nebraska - Kearney
· Rodriguez now has two hat tricks in her career
· Mya Pasion added the team's other goal in the win over UNK
· Four different players recorded assists on the weekend with Brooke Castillo having two to lead the team
· Maggie Payne recorded five saves in the net with both her and Helen Stegner combining in the net for the two shutouts
Regis will now host two more conference opponents this week when they welcome Adams State on Friday night at 7 PM before then closing the weekend against New Mexico Highlands on Sunday at 12 PM. Both games will be played at the Regis Turf Fields.
Adams State is currently 4-1-1 and sits in fourth place of the conference standings while New Mexico Highlands is 0-4-1 and sits in last place.
MEN'S SOCCER
The Regis men's soccer team continued their play against ranked opponents this past week, going 1-0-1 against two schools from the GNAC.
The Rangers began by upsetting #2 Seattle Pacific 3-1 in their home opener on Thursday before then closing out the weekend on Sunday against #14 Western Washington in a 1-1 draw.
Regis has now started their season with five straight matchups against ranked opponents with them having victories against two top-five ranked teams.
The Rangers were receiving votes in last week's USC poll as well with them now waiting to see if they re-enter the rankings this week when the new poll is released tomorrow.
Weekend Notes:
· Regis took a total of 37 shots over the two games with 12 of them being on goal
· Four different players were responsible for the team's goals with Michael Ajagbe, Joakim Gunnar and Liam Corr's each being their first of the season
· Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar scored the other goal for his team-leading second of the year
· Five different players recorded assists with Jan Grillitsch having two
· Zach Jennings recorded four saves in the net while facing 13 shots
· Jennings owns a 0.60 GAA with a .864 save percentage
The Rangers will now close out their nonconference schedule this week despite both games being against RMAC opponents.
They travel to Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday to face off with Westminster University at 5 PM before then returning back to Denver on Sunday to host UCCS at 2:30 at the Regis Turf Fields.
Westminster holds a 2-1-3 record coming into this week with UCCS being 4-0-2 and also being the No. 4 ranked team in the nation.
MEN'S & WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Both the men's and women's cross country teams return to action this coming Saturday with them slated to race in the Roadrunners Invite at Washington Park here in Denver hosted by MSU Denver.
This is the Rangers' second race of the fall and one of just four in the regular season they will compete in.
Last year the men's team took 11th at the race with the women's team taking 10th.
Team Updates:
· Following her win at the UCCS Rust Buster to open the season, Ainara Sainz de Rozas was named last week's USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for Division II women
· In addition, she was also named last week's RMAC Cross Country Runner of the Week
· Both were the first time in school history that a Ranger has earned either award
