Brown Signs Four Talented Individuals on National Signing Day

DENVER - Head Coach Kelly Brown of the Regis University women's soccer program has announced four additions to her 2022 signing class. The quartet signed their National Letter of Intents to play soccer for coach Brown on Wednesday. The four players include: Midfielder Hollie LaLonde (Golden, Colo.), midfielder Julia Bowman (Woodbury, Minn.), midfielder Gracie Reynolds (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and midfielder Megan Sapienza (St. Louis, Mo.).

Midfielder | Hollie LaLonde | Golden, Colo.
LaLonde, a 2022 graduate of Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, Colo., comes to Regis after an impressive High School career. LaLonde began her High School career by reaching the Colorado 5A State Semifinals in 2018 and 2019 with her team. LaLonde's squad came back with vengeance by winning back-to-back Colorado State Championships in 2020 and 2021.

In club play, she competed for Real Colorado Edge 03 Select and won the US Club Soccer National Cup in 2018. After her 2021 season, she was named State Cup MVP for her contributions to her championship team. For the past three years, she's been named an Outstanding Academic Athlete for consecutively having and maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

Here's what Brown has to say about LaLonde, "Hollie is a local talent that was on a team who had great success winning State Championships and traveling to Regional events. She was voted MVP this past State Cup Final for her club team and it was evident why."

She continued, "Great on the ball, loves to connect passes, and will fit in perfectly for our style of play. We are excited Hollie is joining us."

Midfielder | Julia Bowman | Woodbury, Minn.
Bowman arrives at Regis after being a three-year varsity letter winner at Woodbury High School in Woodbury, Minn.. Originally from South Korea, Bowman racked up an incredible 20 assists in just two years of her high school career. Bowman was named Rookie of the Year after her sophomore season. She was also named Team Captain and MVP during her junior year.

In club play, Bowman's team was crowned US Club National Champion with a record of 34-2-2 in 2019. Her team was also Minnesota State Cup semifinalist for three years and Bowman was a Team Captain on those teams. In 2021, her squad nearly went all the way and was named US Club National Finalists.

Here's what Brown has to say about Bowman, "Julia has been a great student-athlete to get to know during the recruitment process."

She continued, "She is coming off of an injury, but has maintained an absolutely brilliant attitude and has truly come back stronger, smarter, and more motivated than ever. She will be a great asset to the Regis culture on and off the field."

Midfielder | Gracie Reynolds | Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Reynolds hails from SkyView Academy in Highlands Ranch, Colo. and comes to RU after playing soccer for the Hawks. Reynolds competed for Real Colorado ECNL in club play. Soccer runs deep within Reynolds' family as her father, Greg, played for four years at York College. Her favorite sports moment was attending the US Regional Training Center.

Reynolds' favorite athlete is Manchester City midfielder Kevin DeBruyne because, "his touch, vision, presence on the field, and understanding of texture on the ball are skills I value in my own game".

Here's what Brown has to say about Reynolds, "Gracie is another local player that is playing for one of the best clubs in the country. She is a steady presence on the field and is constantly setting high expectations of herself."

She continued, "She will not only come in and look to contribute right away, but she will be a player that pushes this program to the next level."

Forward | Natalie Bunch | Moses Lake, Wash.

A goal-scoring machine is what some might call Bunch. Bunch is a 2022 graduate of Moses Lake High School where she was a four-year letterwinner in soccer. The forward tallied a grand total of 68 goals and 18 assists through her high school campaign.

In her freshman year, her squad battled hard all season and ended up winning the 4A Columbia Basin Big 9 League Championship. Her club team, the EW Surf G04 Swoboda, were PSPL WNPL G04 League Champions in 2018 and 2019. Bunch was also a member of multiple other club teams such as the Eastern Washington Surf SC G03/04 NPL, GA EW Surf SC G03/04, WPL Surf Academy G03/04 and Surf Select G2004.

An Honor Roll student, Bunch would love to become a teacher one day.

"I will never forget the first time I saw Natalie play, it wasn't even intentional," said coach Brown. "She caught my eye from two fields away as a player that every time got the ball, just went right at defenders."

She continued, "She can dribble around her opponents and score goals. She's a very exciting player and one who I think will take the RMAC by surprise."
