DENVER - The Regis University baseball team (4-5-1, 0-0 RMAC) traveled east for game one of four versus the Fort Hays State Panthers (0-9) Friday. The Rangers' high-octane offense bolstered their season hit total to 112, which is tied for most in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) with Colorado Mesa.
How it Happened: Three homers plus four RBI from Regis put them up 4-0 by the end of the third inning. The Panthers saved their best bats for the third-fifth in which they recorded nine hits on junior pitcher
Porter Hardcastle.
Trailing 3-6, RU looked to have a destructive seventh inning. Sophomore
Braxton Boyle got the Rangers started with a two RBI homer over the left field fence.
Two more hits in the seventh from freshman
Zach Daudet and redshirt sophomore
Trey Harrison cashed in three more Ranger runs.
Now in command 9-6, Regis benefited off a sloppy eighth and ninth from FHSU. Three unearned runs crossed home plate for RU, putting them up 12-6.
In their final at-bat, the Panthers scored a pair, but didn't have any real chance of stealing the game. In the end, the Rangers took game one 12-8.
