No. 11 Rangers score a season-high 20 goals, roll to 20-2 victory over CSU Pueblo

DENVER, Colo. — Not even a little afternoon thunderstorm could slow down the No. 11 Regis women's lacrosse team as the Rangers scored a season-high 20 goals in a 20-2 rout of Colorado State University Pueblo on an overcast afternoon in Denver.

Regis (5-0 overall, 2-0 RMAC) improved to 14-0 all time against the visiting ThunderWolves (0-4 overall, 0-1 RMAC) and picked up the team's second win in as many days after defeating McKendree University, 17-6, on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Rangers were in control from the opening draw, scoring the game's first eight goals through the opening 10:48 of the first quarter; three of which came courtesy of graduate student Hannah Krats.

Krats finished the afternoon with a team-high four goals and three assists for seven total points, while tying for the team lead in draw controls (5) with junior attacker Gabby Rothermund.

Regis would take a 13-2 lead into the half and added seven more unanswered goals with the running second-half clock.

Freshman goalkeeper Brigit Goetsch picked up her fourth win over the season, making two saves in her 30 minutes of actual in the first half.

GAME NOTES: Sophomore midfielder Tia Krats, who netted her first three goals of the season in Tuesday's win over McKendree, added three more scores on Wednesday. Her and her older sister Hannah combined for seven goals and 10 points on the afternoon.

Senior attacker Alexis Parker (3 goals), junior midfielder Bailey Truex (2 goals) and freshman Madeline Schallmoser (2 goals) all recorded multi-goal games for the Rangers.

A total of 11 different players scored at least one goal for Regis on Wednesday, including Rothermund, sophomore midfielder Lily Ferguson, junior defenseman Tara Davis, graduate student attacker Kyleigh Peoples, senior midfielder Lucy Johnson and senior attacker Camille Watling.

Regis finished with a dominating 39-7 shots advantage, including 31-4 in shots on goal.

The Rangers also won the turnover battle (24-18) while also owning the edge in ground balls (28-15) and draw controls (18-8).

UP NEXT: Regis would look to complete an undefeated week on Saturday when it hosts non-conference foe Rockhurst University (4-3 overall).

First draw is currently scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday at the new Regis turf lacrosse field.
