No. 5 Rangers net a season-high 22 goals in 22-3 rout of CSU Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. — Behind a deep and balanced attacked, the No. 5 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team steamrolled Colorado State University Pueblo on Saturday, cruising to a 22-3 final at Art and Lorraine Gonzalez Stadium.

The 22 goals were a season high for the Rangers (14-0 overall, 9-0 RMAC), topping their previous high of 20 goals set March 16 in a 20-2 drubbing of the same ThunderWolves (2-11 overall, 2-7 RMAC) back in Denver.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Regis was in control from the opening whistle, leading 8-0 after the first quarter and holding a 9-0 advantage with 11:57 remining in the second quarter before CSU Pueblo got on the scoreboard.

The Rangers would own a dominating 14-1 advantage at the half and limited CSU Pueblo to just one goal apiece in the second, third and fourth quarters en route to claiming the 22-3 final.

Graduate student attacker Kyleigh Peoples led all scorers with a game-high five points, scoring four goals and adding one assist.

Senior midfielder Lucy Johnson tied her career high with four goals on Saturday, as well, while junior attacker Gabby Rothermund tallied all four of her points on the day via assists.

The quartet of sophomore Lily Ferguson (3 goals), freshman Justine Spahr (3 goals), sophomore Tia Krats (3 goals) and freshman Madeline Schallmoser (2 goals) rounded out the six different Rangers to record multi-goal games.

Junior midfielders Maddie Northcut and Bailey Truex, as well as freshman Emily Spaeth all netted one goal apiece on Saturday, as well.

In net, sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Myotte picked up her fifth win of the season.

GAME NOTES: The Rangers finished the afternoon with a dominating 35-5 advantage in shot attempts, including a 28-3 mark in shots on goal.

Regis was a spotless 11-for-11 on clear attempts Saturday, improving the team's clear percentage to 86.1% through 12 games played this spring.

UP NEXT: The Rangers return home for the final time during the regular season next week for a Friday night clash against Fort Lewis College. First draw is scheduled for 7 p.m. that evening at the Regis Turf Field in Denver.

Regis defeated the Skyhawks, 17-3, in the first meeting between the two teams in Durango back on April 10.
