No. 7 Rangers close out 2024 regular season with dominant 16-4 road win over CSU Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. — With the program's fifth RMAC regular season championship already clinched, the No. 7 ranked Regis women's lacrosse team put a bow on the program's fourth undefeated run through the conference regular season schedule, knocking off Colorado State University Pueblo, 16-4, on Sunday in the regular season finale.

The 2024 Rangers (16-1 overall, 10-0 RMAC) team joins the 2019, 2021 and 2022 squads as the four teams to accomplish the feat. Regis will host this weekend's RMAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed and will face No. 4 seed Westminster University in the semi-final round on Friday. Official game times for the RMAC Tournament will be announced by the conference early this week.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers wasted little time taking control of the game and momentum against the ThunderWolves (2-12 overall, 0-10 RMAC) as Regis erupted for eight first-quarter goals and held a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal through the opening 15 minutes.

Senior midfielder Bailey Truex netted three of her game-high five goals in the first quarter, achieving her 11^th hat trick of 2024 just 10 minutes and 30 seconds into the game.

Regis as a team would go on to score the first 12 goals of the game, forcing a running clock at the 11:09 mark of the second quarter, and held the ThunderWolves off the scoreboard until 2:49 remaining in the first half.

Sophomore midfielder Maggie Schipfer joined Truex with a hat trick in the first half while the duo combined for seven of the Rangers' 12 first-half scores.

Fellow sophomore Lauren Sheets had one of her best games in a Regis uniform as the Concordia St. Paul transfer scored two first-half goals and dished out a career-high three assists on Sunday to lead all Regis players with five total points.

Graduate student attacker Gabby Rothermund matched Sheets with three assists of her own. The Rangers' all-time assists leader now has a career-high 35 assists in 2024, topping her previous high of 34 in 2022.

Defensively, graduate student defender Sarah Hanson paced the Regis back row with four caused turnovers and a career-high six ground balls.

Junior midfielder Madeline Schallmoser, who scored a goal offensively, followed with two caused turnovers and three ground balls, while fellow junior Megan Bunker had a well-rounded afternoon with two assists, two ground balls, two caused turnovers and a team-high eight draw controls.

In net, senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Myotte made two saves and earned her 14^th win of the season.

UP NEXT
The Rangers, locked in as the No. 1 seed and RMAC Tournament hosts this weekend, will now wait for official tournament times to be released by the RMAC to see when the team will square off against Westminster on Friday.
