Sloan earns First Team, Fullerton and Paniagua claim Second Team All-Region honors through NCBWA

DENVER, Colo. — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced the 2024 Division II All-Region teams on Wednesday, with a trio of Regis University baseball student-athletes earning recognition.

Regis senior left-hander Ethan Sloan, the RMAC's saves leader (9), earned First Team All-Region honors for his dominant spring to date, while the duo of junior catcher Adam Paniagua and junior outfielder Maxim Fullerton garnered Second Team All-Region honors.

The 2024 NCBWA South Central All-Region teams were voted on by a committee of eight sports information directors, with four representing the RMAC and four others representing the LSC.

Sloan makes his debut on the All-Region teams after a career senior season that has seen the southpaw post a 3.90 earned run average, playing in an offense-heavy RMAC, across 18 total appearances heading into this week's South Central Regional Tournament. Sloan (4-2) has limited opponents to a mere .238 batting average while racking up 55 strikeouts in just 32.1 innings (15.4 K/9) versus just 13 total walks to put him on Major League Baseball teams' radar ahead of the 2024 draft in July.

Paniagua had a breakout season of his own in 2024 before suffering an injury in April that limited him to 38 games played. The right-hander hit a career-high .427 and still leads the squad in home runs (17) to go with 60 runs batted in. Paniagua also set additional career highs in slugging (.924), on-base percentage (.566) and earned 26 walks versus just 24 strikeouts in 131 at-bats.

As for Fullerton, the right-fielder finished the 2024 regular season on a torrid run as his batting average shot up from .256 on March 30th to a career-best .353 entering play this week, highlighted by an April that saw the left-hand hit .559 with 32 runs batted in.

Fullerton leads the Rangers with 62 RBI on the season with 16 doubles and 10 home runs to go with his .614 slugging percentage.
