Madeline Schallmoser earns NCAA Elite 90 award

| By:
ORLANDO, Florida — Regis University junior Madeline Schallmoser was named the recipient of the Elite 90 Award for the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship. The announcement was made Monday evening during the Opening Ceremony for the DII Festival.

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. The number of credits completed breaks all ties.

Schallmoser earns the honor with a spotless 4.0 GPA as an English major. In addition to her excellence in the classroom, the midfielder has been a key member of a Regis team that has won three RMAC regular season and tournament titles, as well as the 2024 DII Midwest Regional Tournament championship this past Saturday during Schallmoser's tenure.

A First Team All-RMAC player this spring, Schallmoser has been the true definition of a two-way threat on the field as she has scored 10 goals and tallied 15 total points, offensively, while ranking second on the team in ground balls (41) and fourth in caused turnovers (25) on the defensive end.

Schallmoser and the rest of the Rangers will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. (MT) Thursday, May 23rd when they face No. 3 ranked University of Tampa in the NCAA Division II Championship semi-finals, hosted at Showalter Stadium in Winter Park, Florida.
