DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Soccer team cruised to an 8-1 win over Adams State University on Friday night. The Rangers improve to 6-5-4 (4-2-2 RMAC), while the Grizzlies fall to 1-13-1 (0-8- RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
It would not take long for the Rangers' offense to come alive, as Rayhan Carlson Du-Toit recorded a shot on goal at 3:12. Jan Grillitsch added a shot off the crossbar before Sahar Golov wove a shot through three defenders, finding the back of the net. ASU responded with a shot on goal but in under two minutes, Jason Robles scored two goals, both assisted by Carlson-Du Toit. After a variety of shots by the Rangers, Grillitsch pushed the lead to 4-0 with a goal assisted by Felix Ploner and Robles. Ploner, Alex Guarrero, and Jack Shimkus all added shots, while the defense only allowed one shot in the final 35 minutes of the half, an on-target attempt saved by Zach Jennings.
The Grizzlies would take the first try of the second, saved by Hojin Lee, followed by shots by Johan Murillo, Derek Shoring, and Robles, which hit the crossbar. Shimkus fired a shot that was saved, but put the rebound in to go up, 5-0. Not long after, Robles completed the hat trick with an unassisted score. At 71:07, ASU got on the board, but the Rangers were not done as Shimkus added another goal with less than eight minutes left. Carlson-Du Toit added another late goal as well, assisted by Shimkus, securing the 8-1 win.
