No. 18 Rangers earn 13-12 win in OT

Box Score LEBANON, Ill. – The No. 18 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team (3-0, 0-0 RMAC) pulled out an overtime victory against the McKendree University Bearcats (2-2, 0-0 GLIAC) on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened: Regis won the game 13-12 on a goal by redshirt-senior Erin Todd with 1:17 left in the first overtime period.

The home team took a quick 3-0 lead on over Regis in the first seven minutes, which put the Rangers behind for the first time all season. At halftime, RU found themselves trailing 3-7.

Nine minutes into the second half, Regis faced their largest deficit of the game, 5-12, and began to find themselves. Seven-straight goals from the visitors knotted the game at 12 goals apiece with 38 seconds left in regulation.

When it looked like the Bearcats were about to score before time expired, there was a foul called against McKendree that awarded possession to the Rangers. The second period ended with the score deadlocked and the teams retreated to their benches to prepare for sudden-victory overtime.

The only player to record a shot in the overtime period was Todd who registered three, and on her third attempt she gave the visiting side the 13-12 win over the Bearcats.

Game Notes: Sophomore Sarah Myres scored three goals and added three assists for a team-high six points in the game. Todd had a season-high five goals in the game including the golden goal in the overtime period. Five others chipped in with one goal apiece. Senior Erin Steiner (1A, 3 SOG) scooped up three ground balls to lead the team, as junior Rachael Walker (1 G, 1 A) locked it down defensively causing three turnovers on the day.

Freshman Court Huston (W, 1-0) earned her first collegiate victory spending nearly 25 minutes between the pipes, making two saves and not allowing a single goal.

Next Up for the Rangers: The No. 18 ranked women's lacrosse team will remain on the road for their next two games, making their way to Rockhurst University on Friday and Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday.
