No. 9 Rangers receive goals from 12 different players, earn program's first shutout since 2021 to close Easter Weekend

DENVER, Colo. — The No. 9 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team closed out its Easter Weekend home stand in style Saturday, earning the program's first shutout since 2021 with a 17-0 clean sheet against Fort Lewis College.

For Regis (9-1 overall, 3-0 RMAC), the shutout is the first since defeating Adams State, 22-0, on its home field back on April 17, 2021 and the first shutout of the Skyhawks (1-7 overall, 0-3 RMAC) since earning another 17-0 final on April 18, 2010.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Propelled by another huge first-quarter effort, the Rangers put the game out of reach early as they rattled off nine goals by eight different goal scorers in the opening quarter.

Regis as a team had a season-high 12 different goal scorers on the afternoon, with five players producing multi-goal efforts in sophomore attacker Lauren Sheets, junior midfielder Madeline Schallmoser, sophomore midfielder Maggie Schipfer, freshman midfielder Evie Tanella and senior midfielder Lily Ferguson.

Ferguson would add a pair of assists and three draw controls to her strong afternoon, pacing all Regis players with four points.

Defensively, the Rangers' pressure caused 17 of the Skyhawks' 23 turnovers on the afternoon while limiting FLC to just 12-21 on clear attempts and five total shots.

Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Myotte, who combined with Elle Crawford in the 2021 shutout of Adams State, earned her first career solo shutout on Saturday as she stopped all three shots on goal she faced.

Myotte would also tie for the team lead in ground balls Friday, matching the three ground balls scooped up by Schallmoser and junior midfielder Megan Bunker.

Junior defenseman Terah Skillings was a menace for FLC attackers, forcing a career-high six caused turnovers. Tanella would follow with three caused turnovers off the bench.

In the draw circle, Bunker continued her dominance as she led all players with 13 draw controls, maintaining her RMAC-leading average of 8.7 draw controls per game; the second-best mark in the country among Division II players behind Rollins' Holyn Trautwein (9.83).

UP NEXT
The Rangers will look to build off their current five-game winning streak when they head out on the road next weekend for matchups against rival Colorado Mesa (3 p.m. Friday) and Westminster University (12 p.m. Sunday).
